House insurance!!

Hi,

Does anyone know if a TV 'blowing up' after a power surge is covered on the normal home contents insurance?

i think that's quite a difficult one. Did you know you lived in an area prone to them? you can get special powersurge protector plugs to save your t.v and computer etc

not generally prone to them, I've got a circuit breaker/protector on the fuse box but not on individual sockets.............don't even really know if it was a power surge but its the only reason I can think of for the tv to blow up!!

prob covered but you'll have to check - if you have lost your policy why not just phone up the provider and either get them to send you another copy or just tell you if you are covered... if my new tv "blew up" i would be covered, if my 11 year old one did the same i wouldn't be due to the predictability of an old tv giving up
